Wow, rarely have we sampled such a vast selection of coffees from roasters over a short period.
It was a joy to watch the attention to detail shown by the roasters to get the perfect settings for their coffees using the G4 equipment at the Curtis booth.
Brew ratios of course are just guides. The talent of roasters in knowing their coffee is to experiment and taste. Like scientists however, with accurate scales and timers on i-phones, they meticulously recorded each batch brew concluding the finest recipes.
In the real world, commercial sites rarely have the luxury of time and space to experiment.
The beauty of the Curtis gear is it's ability to recreate the perfect recipes, no matter who makes the coffee and when.
And it's fast too!
Perhaps the real benefit of automating a craft process is that time is liberated for the baristas to engage in dialogue with the customers, painting a picture of many colours, sharing the background of some very special coffees. ...and indeed we cupped many epic brews.
Extraction science = the art of coffee.
Time to engage at a warm human level = the art of service.
Tired, inspired and deeply reminded of the wonders of coffee, its' ambassadors and fan base, thanks LCF18 for another wonderful year!
